The remains of more than 90-thousand Australians who left to serve in the two World Wars, never to return, now rest overseas.
Those whose remains could be identified lay in marked graves, with well kept headstones, and in carefully maintained grounds, in about 800 cemeteries - in almost 80 countries.
Back in Australia, small groups of volunteers are working for official recognition of the graves of other service personnel who made it home, but then died in obscurity.
