New reports suggest Russia's interference in United States social media during the 2016 US presidential campaign was far more widespread than originally imagined.

Papers presented by US senators show sites like Facebook, Instagram and Twitter were used to divide Americans on the basis of gender, race and religion in the lead-up to the election.
