The Federal Government says it will add a revolutionary treatment for Spinal Muscular Atrophy to the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme, for over-18s. The disease, which has been described as Motor Neurone Disease for children, is the leading cause of genetic death in Australian children under the age of two.
