Syria's government and a wide range of rebel groups have agreed to a nationwide ceasefire, which is now in effect in the war-torn country.

The ceasefire, however, does not include the self-proclaimed Islamic State nor the Kurdish YPG militia.

Russia and Turkey will act as guarantors of the truce, which includes seven rebel groups and more than 60,000 opposition fighters.
