Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny has been formally barred from running for president by election officials, prompting calls from him for a boycott of next year's vote.
Mr Navalny was ruled ineligible to run because of his suspended sentence relating to an embezzlement case
He has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing, and says the case is politically motivated
