Political prisoner Tran Thi Thuy, who was sentenced to eight years in prison for allegedly 'overthrowing government' under Article 79 of the Vietnam Penal Code.
Thuy, born in 1971, was arrested in August 2010 and on May 30, 2011, was sentenced by Ben Tre Tribunal to 8 years in prison and 5 years probation.
She pleaded not guilty, together with her villagers petitioned for land confiscation and voiced opposition to other petitioners and human rights issues in Vietnam.
She said her health was not good and many times went on a hunger strike.
