There are further indications United States president Donald Trump will move to decertify a global nuclear agreement with Iran, a move that could potentially unravel the deal.

Global powers struck the deal with Iran in 2015, limiting the country's disputed nuclear program in return for lifting sanctions crippling its economy.

The latest developments come as the world focuses on the growing nuclear regime in North Korea.

An avowed critic of the Iran nuclear agreement, United States president Donald Trump has previously called it an "embarrassment."

Indeed, he calls it one of his county's "worst and most one-sided transactions" ever.

Mr Trump has been openly pondering whether he thinks the deal serves US security interests.

Now, several media outlets are reporting a senior administration official has suggested Mr Trump is expected to decertify the deal this week.

The long expectation has been he would then roll out a broader, more confrontational strategy.

President Trump has accused Iran of collaborating with North Korea and says the country is not complying with the terms of the agreement.
