For the first time in 25 years, the United States has abstained from a vote in the United Nations that calls for an end to an economic embargo on Cuba.

For the first time in 25 years, the United States has abstained from a vote in the United Nations that calls for an end to an economic embargo on Cuba.


The US says it decided to abstain because the policy is not working.

But it insists the move doesn't mean it agrees with the policies and practices of the Cuban government, particularly on human rights.
