China has announced that it will impose an additional $60 billion US dollars on a range of US goods, striking back in its trade war with the United States.

China has hit back, saying it will impose tariffs on 60 billion US dollars of US goods from 1 June, including American cotton, machinery, grains and aircraft parts.

The move comes three days after the US more than doubled tariffs on 200 billion dollars of Chinese imports as Washington sought to turn up the pressure on Beijing after months of talks failed to produce a breakthrough.
