Several months ago, Vuong Van Tha, a Hoa Hao Buddhist, blatantly opposed the oppression of local authorities in Vietnam.
His home was then destroyed by the armed forces and he and his family were taken to the area, no one heard the news.
His daughter, 29-year-old Vuong Ngoc Thao, said he had paid a visit to Mr. Thuy. He told SBS Viet Ngu that he was fine despite being pale.
