Up to now, the number of Australian flu casualties has risen to over 220 people, including 57 in New South Wales, 48 in Victoria, 44 in South Australia, 36 in Queensland and 36 in Australia.

Seniors and children are considered to be most at risk of getting the flu.

Health officials recommend that people get vaccinated when the worst time of the flu season has yet to come.
