Malaysia has initiated what is the latest twist in a series of territorial disputes between Asian nations in the South China Sea.


Malaysia is contesting Singapore's ownership of a tiny rocky island on the edge of the South China Sea at the International Court of Justice in The Hague.

The court ruled in 2008 that Singapore owned the island, but Malaysia is using recently uncovered documents from British archives to challenge the decision.
