From refugees who have successfully created their own businesses to young entrepreneurs capitalising on the technology boom, a group of local professionals are creating a new network of recognition and mentorship for business people of diverse ethnic background in western Sydney.

The CALDEvents' 2016 Entrepreneur Gala on Saturday saw successful business people and professionals come together for three inaugural business awards recognising the diversity of local business.

The Triumph Institute in Bankstown won both the 2016 Local Entrepreneur Of The Year and Emerging Business Of The Year awards.

The Socially Responsible Business Of The Year went to The Big Party in Cabramatta.
