Affectionately known as sausage dogs, dachshunds have grown in popularity and now even have canine celebrities in their midst.
The now annual Sausage Walk is the brainchild of the owners of Instagram-famous dogs, Mildred the Sausage and George the Sausage.
Grace Ang-Lygate and Catherine Hennigan who own Mildred, met with Katherine Sofoluke, owner of George via the social media app.
The women never thought the event would become so popular and said their initial idea was just "a bit of fun" and expected "maybe 30" dogs might turn up.
While the organisers hope to hold another event in about three month's time, there is no end goal. The Sausage Walk is about sausage owners coming together to celebrate the breed.
The walk is a free event, with no promotion of products permitted, but the organisers hope to raise money via donations from participants, for Street Vet, a charity which provides veterinary care, food and blankets for the pets of homeless people.
The walk ends at the Kings Arms pub just outside of Greenwich Park - where dogs and their owners can enjoy a drink or even a sausage roll.
