Thirteen people have died in a traffic accident in Afghanistan's Parwan province.

Thirteen people have died in a traffic accident in Afghanistan's central Parwan province, the local governor says.

Two others were wounded, Parwan governor Mohammad Asem Asem told DPA. Children and women are among the victims.

According to Asem, a vehicle fell into a river in a village in Salang district on Saturday night.

After armed conflict and natural disasters, traffic accidents are the third biggest cause of death in Afghanistan, with the rate of traffic deaths increasing in recent years.
