Two men have been arrested after police seized more than 150 kilograms of methamphetamine which had allegedly been smuggled into Australia inside timber logs.

Australian Federal Police and the Australian Border Force on Thursday said a "successful operation" resulted in the drugs, worth $115 million, being intercepted.

A 64-year-old Sydney man and Melbourne man, 20, were arrested on Wednesday in simultaneous raids.

The drugs were smuggled into Sydney from Africa inside 14 timber logs which were part of a consignment of 121 logs, the AFP and ABF said in a joint statement.

Their investigation began in June after the sea cargo arrived in Sydney.

Border force officers say they detected anomalies in the 14 logs and removed the drugs, before putting the logs back together and following them on their journey to Melbourne.

They were allegedly delivered to two addresses in Sunshine in late July.
