16 die as bus plunges off cliff in Peru

At least 16 people have been killed and another 32 are injured after a bus plunged more than 100 metres into a canyon in Peru.

Authorities in Peru say a bus has plunged down a canyon in the Amazon region, killing 16 people.

Police say 32 people also were injured in the accident on Tuesday between the towns of Tarma and San Ramon.

Authorities say the bus fell more than 100 metres and came to rest on its roof along the Tarma river.

The driver survived and blames a brake failure for the accident.
