A Walmart employee has been arrested after stabbing two people in a store in Princeton, Texas.

The incident happened on Wednesday afternoon and Princeton police chief James Waters says the two victims were taken by helicopter to a hospital and are both in stable condition.

Princeton city manager Derek Borg told TV station KXAS an off-duty McKinney firefighter was among the victims.

Waters said the suspect fled but was apprehended nearby. The suspect was being treated for what are believed to be self-inflicted injuries to his hand.

The chief said they'll be interviewing the suspect to try to determine a motive.
