20 years to rebuild Gaza homes: NGO

It's been estimated it could take two decades for housing alone to be rebuilt in the Gaza Strip following the recent Israeli operations against the Palestinian territory.

It's been estimated it could take two decades for housing alone to be rebuilt in the Gaza Strip following the recent Israeli operations against the Palestinian territory.

A report from humanitarian response co-ordination group "Shelter Cluster" says 17,000 households have been affected.

It says current restrictions imposed by Israel, including on bringing building materials into Gaza, will severely hamper the reconstruction effort.

Alison Shafer is from World Vision's Humanitarian Emergency Affairs Team for Jerusalem, West Bank and Gaza.

She told Sacha Payne, 20 years seems like a reasonable estimate.
