Victoria's chief health officer says it's not too late to get the flu shot as nearly 200,000 extra jabs are made available in the state.
About 120,000 vaccinations have been made available for adults and more than 70,000 for children aged under five, chief health officer Charles Guest says.
"It's never too late to get a flu shot, and with influenza activity just now on the rise, getting a shot now will provide full season protection right through winter and beyond the expected peak in late September," he said in a statement on Thursday.
More than 1.73 million flu jabs have been distributed in Victoria so far in 2018, nearly 500,000 more than last year.
High demand for the vaccines caused a nationwide shortage and the Victorian health department in May said it would ration shots for the state's most vulnerable.
