$200K 'stolen' by NT sporting volunteers

A man and a woman who were long-term volunteers at two Darwin sports clubs are facing charges of stealing more than $200,000.

Two volunteers at the South Darwin Rugby League Club have been charged with stealing more than $200,000.

The 43-year-old woman and 48-year-old man allegedly stole the money from the club and the South Darwin Sporting League between January 2012 and August last year.

"The pair had been long term members of both organisations and held various volunteer positions over a period of many years," said Constable First Class Lavinia Paice from the High Tech Crime Unit on Tuesday.

They have both been charged with aggravated stealing and will appear before the Darwin Magistrates Court on April 18.
