The Greens have promised to reveal donations and campaign spending before NSW residents vote in next month's council elections.

The party says it will publish the details on the first day of pre-poll voting, Monday August 30, and will continue to disclose additional donations online until election day on September 10.

"We make the challenge to every political party and independent candidate to match our transparency and tell the voters before the election, who's paying for their campaign and how much they are spending," Greens MP and local government spokesperson David Shoebridge said.
