Glenn Maxwell in form for Australia A

Glenn Maxwell was man of the match as Australia A beat South Africa A in the quadrangular cricket tournament in Queensland.

Dumped from Australia's ODI squad, Glenn Maxwell has turned in a man-of-the-match performance as Australia A kept their quadrangular tournament title hopes alive in Queensland.

Maxwell belted an unbeaten 46 runs off 31 balls as Australia A ran down South Africa A's total of 134 in just 18.5 overs to win by eight wickets at Harrup Park in Mackay on Sunday.

The allrounder had more modest bowling figures - 1-36 off 10 overs - but legspinner Cameron Boyce (4-21) did most damage as the hosts dismissed the South Africans in 42 overs.

Unwanted for Australia's current ODI series in Sri Lanka, Maxwell now returns to that country for the upcoming T20 international series and is joined by batsman Chris Lynn, who scored an unbeaten 56.

Australia A (2-2) moved to second place on the quadrangular series points tally behind India A (3-1) as they chase a spot in next weekend's final.
