Power's Indycar charge dented

An eighth place in Forth Worth, Texas, has slowed Australian driver Will Power's push for a second Indycar championship title.

AP - Will Power's late-season Indycar championship surge has suffered a hiccup in Forth Worth, Texas.

The Australian went into Saturday's race looking to maintain a hot streak that brought him four wins and six top-two finishes from the previous six races.

However he had to settle for eighth place in a rain-affected Firestone 600 oval track race as American Graham Rahal made a last-lap pass to win from Canada's James Hinchcliffe by just eight-thousandths (0.008) of a second.

Series points leader Simon Pagenaud was fourth and extended his championship lead from 20 to 28 points over Team Penske teammate Power with two races left.

Power, the 2014 series champion, can look forward to the next race with some optimism however.
