Just three weeks after her disappointing Rio Olympics campaign, Emily Seebohm has returned to form at a short course meet in Berlin.
Seebohm claimed the only Australian gold medal on the opening day of the FINA event, winning the 50m backstroke in 26.3 seconds.
She edged out Hungarian superstar and triple Olympic gold medallist Katinka Hosszu by 0.15 seconds, while fellow Australian Holly Barratt finished fourth in the non-Olympic event.
The Queenslander dominated the lead-up events to the Olympics, claiming the majority of backstroke World Cup gold medals, before missing the medals in the 100m and bombing out in the semis of the 200m in Rio.
However Hosszu would claim her revenge in the 200m, with Seebohm finishing third behind Daryna Zevina of Ukraine.

Meanwhile Seebohm's partner Mitch Larkin finished third in the 100m backstroke with a time of 50.51, behind fellow Australian Bobby Hurley who finished second, and winner Stanislav Donetc of Russia.
Hurley claimed another silver in the 400m freestyle with a swim of 3:43.02, behind Great Britain's's James Guy.
Madeline Groves also claimed three silver medals to add to the Olympic one she took home from Rio, finishing second in the 50m freestyle, 100m butterfly and 200m freestyle.
