A 19-year-old South Australian man is in a critical condition with meningococcal disease, with his case the fourth in the state this week.

Two men, aged 18 and 29, and a 71-year-old woman are also being treated for the disease, but SA Health says the cases are unrelated.

In the latest case, 13 people who had contact with the man have been treated with precautionary antibiotics.

His case brings the number in South Australia this year to 25 compared to 27 at the same time in 2015.
