Australia second row James Horwill has extended his contract with English rugby union team Harlequins until 2020.

Horwill has proved a success since arriving at the Twickenham Stoop from Queensland Reds in 2015 and has agreed an additional three years with the Aviva Premiership club.

The 31-year-old, who won the most recent of his 62 caps against England in June, has made 33 appearances for Harlequins.

"From the moment James joined Harlequins 18 months ago, he has shown himself to be both a world class player and an outstanding leader," director of rugby John Kingston said.

"This signing is a statement of our intent for the coming years."
