A 22-year-old man has been killed in a jet ski crash in Tasmania's north.

The man fell off his jet ski when it was hit by another riding in the same direction on Trevallyn Lake near Launceston about 2.30pm.

He was pulled from the water and paramedics attempted first aid, but he died a short time later, police say.

The man who was riding the second jet ski is assisting police with their investigation.
