A late flurry from Mahmudullah has boosted Bangladesh to 8-141 in the first Twenty20 international against New Zealand at McLean Park in Napier on Tuesday.
After scores of zero, one and three in the last three ODIs against the Black Caps, Mahmudullah rediscovered form with a crucial 47-ball 52 which included three fours and three sixes.
He was removed two balls into the final over by a superb slow yorker from paceman Lockie Ferguson, who finished with figures of 3-32.

From 2-28 after 4.4 overs, Bangladesh collapsed to 4-30 in the space of four balls as Ferguson began his international T20 career with a hiss and a roar.
Sabbir Rahman was first to go, gently lofting a waist-high full toss to Henry at mid-on then Soumya Sarkar was removed for a golden duck after he edged a climbing delivery to Corey Anderson at gully.
On a hat-trick, Ferguson blasted in a 147km/h yorker which new batsman Mahmudullah dug out.
Shakib Al Hasan and Mahmudullah then orchestrated a mini-recovery in a 37-run stand before Shakib top-edged a short delivery from Colin de Grandhomme to Mitchell Santner at midwicket.
Santner picked up his first wicket midway through the 16th over when Hossain holed out to Anderson at cover point, then de Grandhomme removed skipper Mashrafe Mortaza for just one to leave Bangladesh 7-114.
Ferguson's 3-32 led the Kiwi bowling effort, with Wheeler contributing 2-22, but the Black Caps wouldn't have been happy with the 18 wides which boosted the Bangladesh total.
