He wasn't able to cover himself in Hopman Cup glory, but American Jack Sock is confident he can cause some damage at this month's Australian Open.
Sock was part of the US team beaten 2-1 by France in Saturday night's Hopman Cup final at Perth Arena.
The 24-year-old blew a match point on the way to a 6-3 5-7 7-6 (8-6) defeat to world No.18 Richard Gasquet in the men's singles.
It was Sock's only singles loss of the week, and the world No.23 is feeling good ahead of his Australian Open tilt.
"If I can piece things together and if I'm playing on my terms, I think I can do some serious damage and be a threat," Sock said.

"I think I'm definitely a second-week grand slam player for sure - if not more.
"I proved that in New York. I lost a close one there in the fourth round.
"If I'm playing my game and feeling good out there, I think I can make a deep run."
Sock's previous Australian Opens don't make for pretty reading.
The powerful right-hander is yet to make it past the second round in three attempts.
But after boosting his fitness during the off-season, Sock is confident he can make a deep charge this time around.
"Physically I feel great," Sock said.
"There's always things to polish up. But I'm pretty confident going into the rest of the Aussie summer."
Frenchman Richard Gasquet is brimming with confidence after leading his country to their second Hopman Cup crown.
The world No.18 lost in straight sets to Roger Federer on Friday night, but he won all three of his other singles matches.
"I played four big matches here against big opponents," Gasquet said.
"Maybe Federer was too difficult to me. But for the Australian Open, this is perfect preparation for me.
"I know I'm playing well. I'm fit. I've got no injuries."
