A paraglider who died after being blown into a cliff face on Victoria's coast has been revealed as the son of former governor-general Sir Zelman Cowen.
Ben Cowen, aged in his 40s, died on Sunday after suffering leg and head injuries when he became caught in strong winds about 2.25pm.
He reportedly fell 15 metres to the ground after being pushed into a cliff face at Fairhaven.
Paramedics treated him but he died at the scene.
Shocked friends paid tribute to Mr Cowen on social media, describing him as an "amazing, charismatic and incredibly energetic and intelligent person".

Mr Cowen, a trained laywer and investment banker, also co-founded, funded and launched adventure store Anacdonda in 2003.
He sold Anaconda in the late 2000s and returned to work as a lawyer
Mr Cowen was Sir Zelman's youngest son.
Sir Zelman served a distinguished and popular four-and-a-half years as governor-general, from December 1977 to July 1982.
Historians say he provided a "healing balm" for the nation after the upheaval created when his predecessor Sir John Kerr sacked the Whitlam government in 1975.
