Genoa goalkeeper Perin to have second knee operation

The 24-year-old was injured in the first few minutes of Genoa's 1-0 home loss to AS Roma in Serie A on Sunday. He suffered a similar problem in his right knee last April.

It took the Italy international more than four months to recover from surgery after the previous injury, which ruled him out of the 2016 European Championship.

"He was one of our goalkeepers at the time of France (Euro 2016) and unfortunately he was unlucky. I want to give him my heartfelt wishes," Italian FA president Carlo Tavecchio told Italy's Radio anch'io sport programme.

On Sunday, Genoa, who are 12th with 23 points from 19 games, visit a Cagliari side two places below them on the same points.
