Local hopes Sam Stosur and Sam Groth have stumbled at the semi-final stage of the Australian Open mixed doubles, defeated by India's Sania Mirza and Croatian Ivan Dodig.
The Australian wildcards took the contest up to the second-seeded pairing on Friday before losing 6-4 2-6 (10-5) on Rod Laver Arena.
Stosur, seeded 18th, and Groth, who was awarded a wildcard entry, were both first-round losers in the singles draws at Melbourne Park.
Mirza and Dodig will meet American Abigail Spears and Colombia's Juan Sebastian Cabal in the final.
Spears and Cabal accounted for Ukraine's Elina Svitolina and Australian Chris Guccione in straight sets.
