Carlton's female AFL stars are confident the competition will deliver enough fireworks to keep fans coming back for more.
The Blues will face Collingwood in the first AFL Women's match at Princes Park on Friday night, when it's hoped 10,000 and 20,000 fans will take advantage of free entry for the historic occasion.
Officials are hoping for an entertaining display in line with last year's highly successful exhibition series final after a fortnight of low-scoring practice matches this month.
"Our games are shorter, so they're not going to be as high-scoring as the men's," Carlton vice-captain Madeline Keryk said on Monday.
"I think once the teams settle and get used to playing with each other, we'll be able to get that free-flowing footy going and hit the scoreboard a lot more.

"We were able to kick six goals in the last quarter of our practice game (against Melbourne) so it shows that once we get used to playing together, we should be able to get some good scores on the board."
The inaugural competition will be 16-a-side, with matches played over 15-minute quarters (down from 20) plus time on after goals or major injuries.
"That should open it up more and make more one-on-one contests, which will be good to watch," Keryk said.
A tough inside midfielder, Keryk said she had tried to pick and choose tricks from her male counterparts rather than emulating any one player.
"Like any player I guess, you've got to make your strengths a point of difference," she said.
"You'll be seeing me at the bottom of a few packs, I'm sure, getting the footy out."
