Black Caps opener Martin Guptill has been ruled out of Thursday's second Chappell-Hadlee ODI in Napier with a hamstring strain.
Guptill notched 61 from 73 balls in the first ODI on Monday but appeared visibly distressed after diving to his left in the field.
His side ultimately scraped out a six-run win despite an extraordinary 146 not out from Australian all-rounder Marcus Stoinis.
Black Caps boss Mike Hesson said the left hamstring strain was minor and they'll keep a close eye on it ahead of the third ODI in Hamilton.
"After being monitored over the last 24 hours, it's become apparent he won't quite be ready for Napier," Hesson said.

"He'll remain with the team and we'll continue to monitor him."
Guptill has been replaced in the squad by 14-Test batsman Dean Brownlie, who plies his trade for Northern Districts.
