WA Labor leader Mark McGowan has matched the Liberals by promising not to increase or introduce new taxes if elected to government on March 11.

The pledge comes 10 days after shadow treasurer Ben Wyatt said such a commitment would not be believable because of WA's budget woes, with the government then saying it was a sign Labor would hike taxes.

"If we're elected, there will be no new taxes or increases on taxes on West Australians full stop," Mr McGowan told reporters.
