The sign out front reads Lottoland but Manly simply haven't produced the numbers at their NRL home ground.

Once renowned as Fortress Brookvale, last week's season-opening loss to old foes Parramatta means the Sea Eagles have lost 10 of their past 13 matches at the dilapidated venue.

The stretch follows a string of seasons where playing at home guaranteed winning dividends, losing just eight of 41 matches there between 2011 and 2014.

And with five of their opening seven games on the northern beaches this year, Jake Trbojevic concedes it's crucial the team rectify their record quickly.

"It's not real pretty at the moment," the young forward said on Tuesday.

"Obviously in past years, Manly have always won here at Lottoland. We spoke about it in the pre-season. It wasn't the best start but we'll be trying to change it around.

"We've got four more home games in the first seven weeks. Hopefully we can change it."

New five-eighth Blake Green admits the team is painfully aware of their poor home turf record.

"It was disappointing we didn't kick the season off at home with a win. We'll do everything we can this week to rectify that," he said.

The former Melbourne pivot is hoping to get his hands on the ball more in Saturday's round-two clash against South Sydney after the Sea Eagles felt like tackling machines at times against the Eels.

Green admitted he struggled to build on his new combination with halfback and skipper Daly Cherry-Evans because their team were limited to just 38 per cent of possession.

"We didn't get a lot of footy to be honest. We did a fair bit of defending," he said.

"So hopefully we get an opportunity this week against Souths to play with the ball a little bit more and reduce our errors. We made a few too many fundamental errors as a team.

"We played some really good footy together in the trials and we hold onto the footy and I'm sure we'll be a threat."

Green said he was wary of a Rabbitohs side now missing injured pair Greg Inglis and Adam Reynolds despite the fact an under-strength Sea Eagles edged Souths 22-16 in the pre-season.

"We played a trial against them earlier in the year and they had a young fella playing at the back there who was quite good in Braidon Burns," Green said.

"It'll be interesting to see which way they go."
