Jarrod Wallace's dreams of a Queensland State of Origin debut are in tatters after he was cited for a shoulder charge by the NRL match review committee.

The Gold Coast prop was expected to be called up in Kevin Walters' Maroons squad on Monday for Origin game two at ANZ Stadium on June 21.

But he is now facing a one-to-two match suspension after being cited for a shoulder charge on Warriors centre Blake Ayshford in Saturday's home NRL loss.

Wallace will incur a one-game ban if he accepts an early guilty plea but will be rubbed out for two matches should he challenge the charge to the judiciary and lose.

Gold Coast CEO Graham Annesley said the club did not know if they would challenge the citation until Monday when they sit down to analyse the incident.

"We'll assess our options after we have a bit of a better chance to look at it tomorrow," Annesley told AAP.

Wallace has until 12pm on Monday to submit his plea.
