Navy seizes 260kg heroin off African coast

In its third major drug interception this year, HMAS Arunta has seized 260 kilograms of heroin from a boat off the coast of Africa.

The Australian Navy has helped seize 260 kilograms of heroin from a boat in the Indian Ocean off the coast of Africa.

It's the third significant drug interception by HMAS Arunta this year as part of Operation Manitou.

"The interception of these narcotics helps deny the financial pathway that terrorists use to fund their criminal activities in the Middle East and throughout the world," Major General John Frewen, commander of the joint task force, said in a statement on Wednesday.
