Qld Labor unveils hospital strategy

Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk and Health Minister Cameron Dick are set to reveal their multi-million dollar plan to cut hospital wait lists.

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk will unveil a multi-million dollar plan to slash patient waiting lists at hospitals across Queensland.

The cash boost will take the state Labor government's health election promises to $1 billion, on the heels of a $167 million pledge to hire 3500 new nurses and $679 million worth of upgrades to hospitals at Logan, Caboolture and Ipswich.

The Premier will be joined by Health Minister Cameron Dick to detail how the funds will be spent further reducing hospital wait lists if re-elected on Novemebr 25, a government spokesman said.

Around 40,000 Queenslanders were on wait lists as of July 1 as a result of the government's Specialist Outpatient Strategy, a significant drop from the 100,000 patients waiting when Labor took office in 2015, he told AAP.

Meanwhile, Liberal National Party leader Tim Nicholls will continue to campaign in the state's southeast, where he is expected to make announcements relating to the environment and infrastructure.
