21,000 call for Turnbull stand on Jones

A 21,000-strong petition demanding the prime minister take a stand against 2GB host Alan Jones has been tabled in the Senate.

A petition of more than 21,000 signatures urging Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull to "stand against" shock jock Alan Jones has been tabled in parliament.

Greens senator Rachel Siewert said the petition regarding Mr Jones' call for another Stolen Generation had attracted 21,676 signatures.

The 2GB host last week said children brought up around alcohol and drug abuse should be taken away from their parents.

The petition says it's time for Mr Turnbull to stand against the comments and implement the recommendations of the report of the national 1997 inquiry into the separation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children from their Families.
