36ers coach unfazed at Randle's NBL return

Adelaide coach Joey Wright says the NBL return of Jerome Randle has no bearing on him ahead of the 36ers' game against his new side, the Sydney Kings.

Adelaide 36ers coach Joey Wright is unfazed at the return of Jerome Randle in opposition colours.

Randle won the NBL's MVP last season with Adelaide but returns to the city to face Wright's side as a Sydney King on Saturday night.

"It has no bearing on me at all," Wright said on Thursday.

"It's probably the only thing that I have got a lot of questions about over the last week or so but I'm more interested in trying to win that ball game."

Wright said the performance of Randle wouldn't be the deciding factor against the Kings.

"We know what his strengths are. We know what his weaknesses are, for sure," he said.

"So we will try and play on those. But knowing what his strengths are, he's a good player, he is going to get his (points).

"That is not going to be the key to the game, how well he plays or not plays.

"They have got him as an MVP, (Kevin) Lisch as an MVP, they have got a couple of ex-NBA players on the squad, a couple of EuroLeague players on the team so they are stacked with talent coming into this.

"But he definitely changes their outlook."

The last-placed Kings will meet an Adelaide outfit seeking to snap a three-game losing streak.

Wright has identified two areas needing improvement - countering zone defence, and offensive rebounds.

"Our offensive rebounding hasn't been great, we are giving teams way too many extra possessions," he said.

"And in the quarters that we do that, it puts so much pressure on our defence and then we end up fouling and putting them on the line . .. that has been a common theme."
