Brisbane have confirmed Nathan Sobey's arrival while Cairns have lured his Adelaide teammate Majok Deng north as the NBL free agency period rolls on.

Olympic hopeful Sobey will join Boomers coach Andrej Lemanis at the Bullets on a three-year deal.

One of the most exciting products in the NBL, guard Sobey will inject pace in a traditionally steady Bullets offence.

"But he also has an ability to see the floor and find opportunities for his teammates," Lemanis said.

"He is the sort of player that makes everyone else better both on and off the court."

Sobey joins Jason Cadee and Cameron Gliddon in an all-Boomers guard rotation for the Bullets, while Adam Gibson will join new franchise South East Melbourne Phoenix next season.

The club remain hopeful Lamar Patterson will return, despite acknowledgements that the import is hot property both in Australia and abroad after his exploits last season.

Earlier on Friday, the Taipans announced a three-year contract for 208cm forward Deng, who will play a larger role after showing plenty for the 36ers over the last three seasons.

"He's going to be really good for Cairns -- he's got a fire in his belly and he shows a little personality on the court," Cairns coach Mike Kelly said.

Perth's five-time title-winning pair Damien Martin and Jesse Wagstaff both recommitted to the club on Friday, while versatile forward Dan Trist is the latest addition at the Phoenix.
