3rd lay day for men's surfing in Portugal

The World Surf League has called a lay day for the men's event in Portugal with only small swell on offer.

A continued lack of swell has forced organisers of the men's World Surf League (WSL) event in Portugal to call another lay day.

"Today will be another lay day. It's very similar to the first two days," WSL deputy commissioner Travis Logie said on Thursday.

"From tomorrow onwards, it's looking very promising, so we will be back here at 8am (local time) to reassess conditions for a possible start."

First to compete will be Filipe Toledo, Jadson Andre and Tomas Hermes in an all-Brazilian showdown in the opening heat of round one.

Portugal is the second-last stop on the 11-event 2015 championship tour.
