Four police officers have been killed and five wounded after a suicide bomber blew himself up near the Prophet's Mosque in the holy city of Medina.

Four Saudi police officers have been killed and five wounded in a suicide attack near the Prophet's Mosque in the holy city of Medina, the Saudi Interior Ministry says.

Parts of three bodies have been found at the scene of a second suicide attack in the mainly Shiite eastern city of Qatif, ministry spokesman General Mansour al-Turki sais on Monday.

Al-Turki says that the Medina suicide bomber blew himself up when police became suspicious and tried to stop him in a car park adjoining the mosque.
