More than 400 police will patrol Victoria's parliament precinct this weekend during a rally organised by self-declared "pro-Australians".
Groups for and against Islam clashed violently at a Coburg rally in late May and Police Minister Lisa Neville has asked families to avoid this Sunday's protest outside parliament.
"Over 400 police will be out on the streets trying to protect Melburnians," Ms Neville told reporters on Wednesday.
