A five-year-old American girl has shot and killed herself while playing with a gun at home.
The St John the Baptist Parish Sheriff's Office said in a statement that the girl's father told investigators his daughter was playing with the handgun when she shot herself inside a Louisiana home on Saturday morning.
Paramedics took the girl to a hospital, where she later died.
Detectives said the gun hadn't been securely stored in the home.
