An Australian company has committed to create 5000 jobs for indigenous Australians in the largest ever contract of its kind.

Staffing, maintenance and facility management service company Programmed announced the 10-year commitment with Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull and mining magnate Andrew Forrest at Parliament House on Thursday night.

Mr Forrest, founder of GenerationOne which aims to close the gap between indigenous and non-indigenous Australians through employment, called on the federal government and business community to do their bit to increase indigenous employment.
