6.9 magnitude quake strikes off Indon

Indonesia has been hit by a 6.9-magnitude earthquake, but it is not expected to trigger a tsunami.

A 6.9-magnitude earthquake has struck about 330 kilometres north-northwest of Indonesia's Molucca islands, the US Geological Survey says.

The USGS said the quake was 102km deep.

The NOOA Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said that, based on available information "a destructive Pacific-wide tsunami is not expected".
