The death toll from airstrikes on a Syrian border town in the Islamic State-held eastern province of Deir al-Zor has risen to 62, a war monitor says.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, which claimed Monday's attack on the town of Al-Bukamal was perpetrated by international coalition warplanes, said at least 42 civilians were among the dead, including 14 Iraqi displaced persons, 11 children and six women.
At least 20 militants from the Islamic State terror organisation were killed in the bombings that targeted Al-Hajana neighbourhood, as well as the surrounding areas of the Al-Rahman mosque and other regions, the Britain-based monitor added.
The Observatory did not rule out that the death toll could rise as the wounded include several people in a serious condition.
